Ready-To-Fruit Grow Bag Instructions
You've got your Florida Fungi Farm Ready-To-Fruit Grow Bag and now it is time to figure out what to do with it!
This article, along with the video, will explain what to do with your grow bag for best results!
First, the video:
Wherever you place it, it must be out of direct sunlight. Ambient room light is fine, just avoid placing it in a spot where sunlight will directly beam UV on the bag via a window, skylight, etc.
Now that you have chosen your location and sliced open the bag along the line - you're done!
It is worth mentioning here that if you have a plastic tote - such as a sterilite or rubbermaid container pictured below, you may place the bag inside it. Leave the lid partially cracked to just barely allow a little airflow. This will create a chamber which has higher relative humidity than the surrounding environment.
This step is absolutely optional, however the mushrooms will appreciate this environment and reward you with 5 to 10% more yield.
Once your bag has produced mushrooms, gently pull the fruited body or bodies off from the substrate. They should tear away like velcro. Try not to leave any of the mushroom material attached to the block. The block will repeat this cycle of growth 2-3 times and you can expect 2-3 pounds of mushrooms total over the lifespan of the block.
You will notice the bag appear smaller over time as the mushrooms suck the moisture and nutrients out of the substrate. When the bag stops producing mushrooms, we recommend burying it in the garden or adding it to your compost pile. Plants love it, and there is a small chance in the future you may get mushrooms growing where you buried it.
